We’re a community led organization committed to the collective advancement of Black makers, our voices, journeys, and healing by and through design, education, and culture. We focus on the disrupting the siloed nature of design through cross disciplinary exploration and programs centered on connection, resistance, and celebration.

Our Origin Story

The dsgnrs.wrkshp (pronounced designer’s workshop) collective stemmed from founder Kamille Glenn’s curiosity of an interdisciplinary maker community as an interior design student at The Fashion Institute of Technology. Post grad, curiosity became a yearning after experiencing design at seldomly diverse tables. In 2019, we launched as a reclamation of Black maker presence within the built environment. Our work focuses on the nourishment of cross disciplinary engagement, opportunities, and resources between Black designers, our community, fellow creative networks, and institutions.

This is how we are disrupting the siloed nature of design.

“ This isn’t just about representation. Innovation and economic growth exists at the junction of diversity and opportunity.”

— kamille glenn, FOUNDER

We’re creating the future of design and it’s relationship to the built environment while blurring the lines between art, lifestyle, and technology. We accomplish this through programs that promote strategy and practice such as, workshops, seminars, productions, field trips, and events focused on connection, resistance, and celebration.

Sharing stories our way with the intention of improving Black representation across industries as designers, educators, mentors, subject matter experts, collaborators, or consultants.
